Re-organized the NAK (3 Bureaus, 3 Repositories, 17 Divisions, and 324 persons at HQ → 3 Bureaus, 4 Repositories, 15 Divisions, 2 Centers, and 321 persons).
※Public Archival Management Division (abolished) → Electronic Records Management Division (newly established), Preservation & Research Division → Archival Preservation & Restoration Center (expanded), Archival Management Education Division → Archival Management Education Center (expanded).

Adjusted the personnel (320 persons →324 persons).

Re-organized the NAK into the integrated archival management system for each area (3 Bureaus, 3 Repositories, 17 Divisions, 1 Center, and 322 persons at HQ → 3 Bureaus, 4 Repositories, 17 Divisions, and 320 persons).

Held the “International Archival Cultural Exhibition 2010.”

Newly established the Archival Management Innovation Group.
Either re-organized into or established the Innovation Support Team, Collection Management Team, Evaluation & Classification Team, Preservation Management Team, Archival Computerization Team, and Service Innovation Team.
Re-organized into the History Repository and the Seoul Archival Information Center.

2004

Renamed from the Busan Branch Office into Busan Support.

Renamed into the National Archives of Korea.
Announced the Archives System Standards and expanded the establishment of archives system at government organizations.

Enacted the “Act on the Management of Presidential Archives."

2000~2002

Enforced the “Public records management act”.
Jointly implemented the Information Strategy Planning (ISP) for the Improvement of Document Processing Procedures with the Ministry of Government Affairs and Home Affairs.

1999

Enacted the “Public records management act”.
Enacted the framework to manage national archives systematically.

1998

Relocated to the Government Complex-Daejeon and secured the storage library for computing equipment and audiovisual records.
Opened the Seoul Office to enhance transparency by disclosing public information in the capital area.
Changed affiliation from the Ministry of Government Administration to the Ministry of Government Affairs and Home Affairs according to their respective reorganizations.

1984

Opened the Busan Branch Office for national archives.

1969

Established the Government Archives & Records Service, affiliated with the Ministry of Government Administration.
Commenced the centralized preservation and management of the government’s documents, drawings, cards, etc. to be held in permanent archives.

1962

Established the Filming Section of the Cabinet Secretariat at the General Affairs Department.
Commenced the microfilming of important government archives.
